In ten years the world has gained a mega bridge, a dam that affects the rotation of the earth and an airport with capacity to receive 20 times the Portuguese population.

Three Gorges Dam, China
It is one of the largest engineering projects in the world and has taken 18 years to complete. The construction of the Three Gorges Mega Hydroelectric Station had several phases, but it was not until 2012 that the dam of EDP's largest shareholder became fully operational. According to NASA, whenever the structure reaches its maximum capacity level, it affects the earth's rotational motion.

Burj Khalifa, Dubai

It was the first grand opening of the decade. At the start of 2010, Dubai's skyscraper became the tallest building in the world at 828 meters, a title it still holds but is due to lose by 2020 when the nearby Dubai Creek Tower is ready.

New Chernobyl Sarcophagus, Ucrânia
The new Chernoby Nuclear Power Plant reactor four Safe Confinement structure took precisely a decade to complete. It was designed to protect the wreckage from the 1986 nuclear accident, because the original sarcophagus, built shortly after the disaster, is in danger of collapse and will be dismantled. The new structure cost over two billion euros and was designed to last a hundred years.

Istanbul airport, Turquia
It is a monumental work, which is being done in stages. The first, with 140 hectares, was completed in October 2018. Since then, the new Istanbul airport has the largest terminal in the world and a capacity of up to 90 million passengers per year.
